100 for future

As part of the Project "100 for the Future” implemented by the Roma Inclusion Office under the Programme "Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalized Groups in Serbia" , a seminar was held for the empowerment of Roma women from 4th to 6th March 2022. The seminar featured 20 women from the Roma community, some of whom are already experienced activists, and some who had met with such training for the first time.

Our colleagues, Marina Babović and Petar Antić held a one-day, interactive workshop addressing topics of human and minority rights, discrimination, the fight against gypsyism and gender equality. In an open and supportive atmosphere, cases of discrimination were discussed, the position of women in the Roma community and society as a whole, as well as ways to recognize violations against and to advance human rights. The workshop was rated as very useful and significant by participants and organizers.

Besides the participants, the seminar was attended by AP Vojvodina Assembly member Jelena Jovanović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Ninoslav Jovanović and Director of the Office for Inclusion of Roma in AP Vojvodina Ljiljana Mihajlović.

Project The "100 for the Future " was launched at the initiative of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue , with the aim of making 100 Roma women from 30 municipalities in Serbia active citizens who will participate equally in creating policies that affect Roma women, and to promote in their local communities the protection of the rights of youth, women, promote gender equality and equality at all.
