Food and Hygiene Packages Distributed in Zaga Malivuk Settlement

With Proper Training and Certificate to Quick Employment in Welding
As part of activities on employment promotion of Roma and other marginalised groups in Serbia, the skills training programme for 20 locksmith welders was successfully completed and after certification, the candidates will be able to find employment in several companies in Kovin, Smederevo and Pančevo.read more

New Series of Support Packages Distribution to Roma and Other Marginalised Groups Families
Belgrade, 15 December – 201 packages of food and sanitary products (with disinfectants) were distributed for 158 marginalised families in Belgrade municipalities of Rakovica, Čukarica, New Belgrade and Zvezdara during the first half of December as part of the third distribution series organised by the Red Cross of Serbia and the German Development Cooperation project “Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalised Groups in Serbia”, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This is a fruition of the continuing cooperation between GIZ and the Red Cross that has already finalised two distribution activities and disbursed 399 assistance packages in the territory of Belgrade.read more

LAWS AND MEASURES GUARANTEEING HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION ARE IN PLACE, BUT OFTEN NOT APPLIED ADEQUATELY OR IN TIME
The research on discrimination in Serbia, implemented over the course of the past two years by the project “Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalised Groups in Serbia” and in cooperation with the Commissioner for Protection of Equality, Mrs Brankica Janković, has shown that 95% of the population believe in the presence of discrimination in Serbia, mostly in the field of labour and employment (74%), social protection (30%), health care (29%) and education (20%), and according to the 50% of respondents, the most susceptible are Roma and women (33%).read more

300 EDUCATORS COMPLETE THE TRAINING ON HOW TO RECOGNISE AND ACT IN CASE OF DISCRIMINATION
Over the past year, 300 educators from 60 preschool institutions and primary and secondary schools across Serbia underwent training on how to recognise and take recommended actions and measures to combat discrimination in the educational environment.read more
