FINANCING AND KNOWLEDGE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE BETTER POSITION OF ROMA IN SERBIA DOPRINOSI BOLJEM POLOŽAJU ROMA U SRBIJI

Within the programme Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups in Serbia, which is implemented by GIZ within the German development cooperation, the workshop "Project cycle management" was completed yesterday. The five-day workshop, held in two segments during May in Belgrade at the Zira Hotel, was attended by representatives of civil society organizations, municipalities, cities and local institutions, which focus on Roma, returnees and other marginalized groups.

The program provides a chance for unemployed people to participate in these trainings and get a job at Mobels d.o.o. from Vranje. The training will include a theoretical part lasting 36 hours and a practical part lasting 20 working days. During the practical training, mentor support and reimbursement will be provided to all participants, and the most successful will be given the opportunity to stay and work in the company.

Public call for project proposals One million euros for employment of hard-to-employ groups

The Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the project "Initiative for Inclusion phase 3" have announced a competition for the selection of 10 local governments that will receive support for projects to implement innovative and sustainable solutions for employment of hard-to-employ population groups. The total amount available under the Call for Proposals is € 1,000,000, and the maximum grant amount for individual projects is € 100,000.

A NEW CHANCE FOR EMPLOYMENT OF 500 ROMA MEN AND WOMEN

About 560 members of hard-to-employ groups from Belgrade, Valjevo and Leskovac, including 405 women, received professional and mentoring support in the past six months, within the project "Economic Empowerment of Roma Women: Improving Employment and Self-Employment Capacities" in order to acquire new knowledge. The results of the project activities are also recommendations for gender-sensitive measures for employment and gender equality, which will in the long run contribute to the economic empowerment of Roma men and women and other hard-to-employ persons at the local and national level and was published today at the final conference of the project held at the Media Center in Belgrade.

Belgrade, 12 March – In organisation of the Serbian Red Cross and the German Development Cooperation Project “Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalised Groups in Serbia”, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, 127 food packages, and 127 sanitation products packages with disinfectants were distributed to 79 families in Zaga Malivuk substandard settlement.
