Within this project, two public calls were announced - for the selection and allocation of subsidies to entrepreneurs, micro and small enterprises, and a public call for unemployed persons for the allocation of subsidies for self-employment. All funds will be used to finance the purchase of equipment and machinery for 10 legal entities in individual amounts up to 5,000 euros, while funds for starting a business will be used for the purchase of equipment / machinery, to implement business plans for 10 individuals in individual amounts up to 6,000 euros. In this way, by the end of the year, 40 people will be employed.

  • „For the second year in a row, the city of Pozarevac received funds to support employment for 40 and internships for another 15 individuals who face greater obstacles to entering the labor market through career counseling and entrepreneurship activities," said Vesna Vidojevic, senior project manager of the German Development Cooperation project "Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups in Serbia".

  • "The concept according to which the project beneficiaries are in focus and support measures are planned in accordance with their needs, enables them to respond to their real needs and contribute to equal participation in the labor market," Vidojevic added at the Subsidy contract award ceremony.

  • The main goal of the joint activities of the City of Pozarevac and the project of the German Development Cooperation "Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups in Serbia" is to create a positive impact on the local community and Roma entrepreneurship through employment of Roma men and women returnees based on readmission agreements, from rural areas, persons left out of the labor market and persons from other socially vulnerable groups.

"The city of Pozarevac has been implementing active employment programs for members of the most vulnerable groups for several years now, which has led to a reduction in unemployment. We have excellent cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with which, I can freely say, we have a partnership. Partnership relations are product of the excellent results that the City of Pozarevac has in the field of employment of socially vulnerable groups," said Sasa Pavlovic, the mayor of the City of Pozarevac.

In November last year, the City of Pozarevac and the German Development Cooperation project "Inclusion of Roma and Other Marginalized Groups in Serbia", implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, signed an agreement on the implementation of activities "Achieving inclusive socio-economic development by encouraging Roma entrepreneurship and employment." The partner organization in these activities is the Roma Association of the Braničevo District from Požarevac, which has many years of experience in implementing projects funded by international organizations.

The project Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups in Serbia is implemented within the framework of German Development Cooperation. The project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia as President of the Coordination Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the Strategy for Social Inclusion of Roma in Serbia for the period from 2016 to 2025.
